Gibson SG Diablo Tremolo
Way back in 1961 when the SG Standard temporarily replaced the Les Paul
Standard in the Gibson lineup, few players were aware that a future icon
of rock guitar was being introduced to the scene. The SG took root fast
with players looking for a sharp and powerful alternative, however, and
remained a heavy rock icon in particular, even long after the LP
returned to the catalog in the late ’60s. The SG Diablo Tremolo from
Gibson USA realizes the full potential of the furious SG design for the
21st century, retaining the classic cut of this iconic electric guitar,
but adding a few contemporary twists that make it one of the most
powerful and versatile rock weapons available today. With a genuine
“double-locking” Floyd Rose™ vibrato bridge, 24 frets for extended
soloing range, two of Gibson’s most popular humbucking pickups, and a
simplified no-nonsense control layout, the SG Diablo Tremolo hits all
the sonic bases you need it to cover, and does so in grand style in a
genuine hand-sprayed nitrocellulose finish in gloss Ebony Black.
Like the best SGs of the past, the SG Diablo Tremolo starts with a solid mahogany body and glued-in, quarter-sawn mahogany neck, a pairing that ensures ringing sustain, superb tonal depth, and plenty of clarity and richness. The body’s thin dimensions make this a pleasurably light guitar to play, while its classically beveled edges also make it comfortable on the forearm. To update the format for the 21st century, however, Gibson USA gives the SG Diablo Tremolo a fingerboard crafted from North American rosewood with 24 frets for a full two octaves on every string, yielding new creative territory in the SG format. The neck’s slim profile measures .818” at the 1st fret and .963” at the 12th, making it superbly fast and comfortable. Cream fingerboard binding not only lends a classic look, but keeps the ride smooth for the entire journey, while the guitar comes without a pickguard to get in the way of the menace of its gloss-black finish.
Two of Gibson’s popular PAF-style humbucking pickups—a 490R at the neck and 498T at the bridge, made with Alnico II and Alnico V magnets, respectively—translate the SG Diablo Tremolo’s sonic goodness to your amp of choice, yielding anything from deep, warm tones in the neck position to endless growl and roar in the bridge, to round and snappy tones in between. To kick this guitar’s unbridled versatility into overdrive, of course, there’s the Floyd Rose™ vibrato unit that helps to give the SG Diablo Tremolo its name. The most highly acclaimed high-performance trem available to the modern rocker, this Floyd™ excels at everything from dramatic divebombs to subtle evocative warbles, and stays in tune astoundingly well, thanks in no small part to its locking nut. A set of high-quality Grover™ tuners grace the headstock, while a simple control array of single master volume, single master tone, and three-way toggle switch leave nothing to get in the way of your fast and furious licks. Check out the SG Diablo Tremolo today at your authorized Gibson USA dealer, and prepare to rock in grand style.
Every guitar includes a Gibson hardshell case, owner’s manual, Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson USA’s 24/7/365 support.
