Description
This Sonata begins with an Allegro ben moderato, featuring a high melody played pianissimo in triple time. The piano comes to the fore in the second movement, marked Allegro, though it has a slower middle section. A short 'Recitativo-Fantasia' has both instruments really integrating and playing off each other, then fading to nothing, whereas the last movement Allegretto poco mosso is loud and declamatory, with a persistent melody. This edition is edited by James Galway.
